How to make jailing Trump for violating the gag order less of a MAGA PR windfall for Trump, by Hal Brown, MSW

Above are two of the possiblities for incarcerating Trump that I envisioned. One could be at Rikers. I don’t think this is a good idea if only because the motorcade there and back would be a spectacle. The other is to fence in an area in Columbus Park behind the courthouse and use RVs to house Trump and the Secret Service. The NYPD could easily protect the perimeter. I have since thought better of these ideas.

I think the best way to confine (and I prefer this term to incarcerate or jail since it might inflame his supporters less) Trump is to decently furnish a room in the courthouse. As you can see from the photo is it a large building. There has to be a room or suite that could be repurposed as living quarters for Trump.

No matter how he is housed Trump will rant about being victimized and use this for fund raising. The way to minimize the effect of this as much as possible is for Judge Merchan to show the public the extent he’s gone to to show respect for a former president.

A few photos of the room should be released. They would show that it could hardly be called a jail cell and that it is similar to a room in a decent hotel. It wouldn’t be fancy but hardly could be called oppressive.

  1. If we manage his incarceration in the way we would typically care for an elder in assisted living, even if we know there are pathologies that are interacting, interweaving, entangling, the notion of maltreatment becomes less so. Let’s begin treating him (treatment being the clinically operative word) as any other senior with orientation/task/situation management problems. Assisted living is a form of confinement, because whereabouts are known to the staff. This is a person who has engaged “staff” his whole life. The only difference is, now, they will be compassionate-care folks who are looking through a medical and behavioral lens.

Look, we know he’s sick in the head. We know he’s corpulent, we know that he’s advancing into age-related changes at an accelerated pace. Placement is going to cost us. No question. The Trump Family has found a very clever way of getting us to pay for his elder care, and doggone it, I like this option much better than “placement” at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. We tried that before and look how it worked out.

Uh-uh. We deserve better. We as a nation deserve the daily peace of mind that “grampa goofy gourd” has caring folks around him, keeping him fed, socializing him with others who are similarly disposed, cleaning him up when his bowels and bladder cease to regulate. It doesn’t have to migrate toward martyrdom.

This doesn’t have to turn into another production of Macbeth or King Lear on the world stage.

And yes, there is often a lock-down wing in assisted living facilities for the “wanderers.”

    Careful and compassionate incarceration.

This is naught more than a variation on a “Joan Crawford” Mommy Dearest. He’s a wannabee performer who has become overly pathologic, dangerous to self and others, out-of-control and unmanageable.

I like the idea of clean, safe, comfortable and private. That’s a good use of American family monies…

If any of you have a conduit to Juan Merchan that would not compromise his decisions or corrupt the case, this is the advice I would offer. I think he’s already leaning in this direction. This is a Pablo Escobar type of scenario…
