I am showing my age when I say that it occurred t me that was in the threaters when I was 20 could be renamed to refer to Trump’s hush money trial. Then I thought I could alter two of the posters for the movie to they could illustrate a blog.

“Hush… Hush, Sweet Charlotte ” (see link) was a 1964 Betty Davis hit movie. It was a psychological horror thriller which involved sex and infidelity. It also involved murder and a coverup. The Trump trial about to begin in New York City Monday shows every sign of being a bigger blockbuster. After all it involves sex, lies, a former president worshipped by many, and the most well-known adult film actress in America.

As if the trial needed more publicity Trump has been ranting about it (see Google News search) even saying he’d be willing to go to jail like Nelson Mandela if the judge orders his incarceration for violation of his gag order.

Unfortunately the trial is not expected to be televised because New York state is one of three jurisdictions that does not permit audio-visual coverage of trial-court proceedings. Trump is required to attend his entire criminal trial in person, so there is a chance he will make statements to the press outside of the courtrom. Last April when Trump was arraigned, Judge Juan Merchan permitted photographers to take still images before the arraignment. He ruled that they would have to leave once the arraignment began. He approved TV cameras in the hallways of the Manhattan courthouse so if he does this again the public will see videos possibly not only of Trump but also of Stormy Daniels.

Unfortunately we will have to depend on reporters inside the courtroom to tell us what transpired each day.

Given Trump’s volitile personality and narcissism it will be interesting to see whether he becomes unhinged if he does talk to the press. I’ve written before that he seems to be in an early stage of dementia so it is possible he’ll show signs of this when he talks to the press. It will also be interesting to see how far he pushes the gag order in what he post on Truth Social.

“Remember, there was a time when we heard on an endless loop that covert audio recording that Michael Cohen made discussing the hush money payment scheme with Donald Trump, and what did Michael Cohen say? Oh, I’ve talked to Allen Weisselberg about how to set this whole thing up.”

Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer who was involved in making hush money payments to adult movie actress Stormy Daniels, gave Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg a recording of a conversation he had with Trump where they were discussing the arrangements with Daniels and another woman, Karen McDougal.

“I need to open up a company for the transfer of all of that info regarding our friend David,” Cohen says in the recording, likely referring to American Media, Inc. leader David Pecker. AMI is the parent company of the National Enquirer, which paid McDougal to write if she didn’t go public with her story about Trump. From RawStory.

There’s no way any of Stormy Daniels’ videos will be played in the trial, but there’s an audio recording (aka tape) which could be part of the DA’s case so it could be called sex, lies, and audiotape.
