The Trump Bible: “A new level of culty” by Hal Brown, MSW

Christians already have copies of the Bible which they paid a lot less for than what the Trump Bible is selling for.

Mika Brzezinski just called Trump’s Bible a “new level of culty” providing me the title for this blog.

Did this guy wake up and think he had a brilliant idea for making some money and not have it cross his mind that even for him this was a new low opening him to both mockery and the risk of alienating some of his precious Evangelical Christians? Did it not occur to him that for Christians Easter is the most holy day of the year?

Then Charlie Sykes on “Morning Joe” pointed out how ludicrous it was that Trump was selling his Bible, which includes a copy of the U.S. Constitution, neither of which he has read let alone understood.

I wonder what Trump was thinking as he read these lines in way what was so wooden and dripping with faux sincerity it buggers the imagination to believe that anyone not clincally delusional thinks he believes one iota of what he says. Yet, alas, we know perhaps millions of his cult mebers will believe that and many of them will shell out their sixty bucks to buy the Bible.

Trump wants people to believe the Bible is his favorite book, and that he’s actually read it. Trump is known to have the attention span of a flea when it comes to reading. However, I can see him actually opening a Bible at random, which I did for the purpose of this blog, just to see what people make such a big deal about and turning to, for example…

and reading some of the verses from the Book of Acts like the more popular ones like those below and deciding to read more?

Acts 1:8

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Acts 2:38

“Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’”

Acts 2:42

“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.”

Acts 4:12

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Acts 10:34-35

“Then Peter opened his mouth and said: ‘In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.’”

Acts 16:31

“So they said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.’”

Acts 17:28

“‘for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’”

Acts 18:9-10

“Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, ‘Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent; for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city.’”

Acts 20:24

“But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”

Acts 28:31

“preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him.”

I can see Trump reading some of these passages and saying to himself “repenting and recieving the Holy Spirit and having visions, do people really believe this shit?”

I know people who consider themselve to be good Christians, even those who open their Bible at random as some (read Opening the Bible at random for advice: Superstition or revelation?) expecting a divinely inspired message, will buy this book.

You can get your random Bible verse here.

If Trump was a believer perhaps there is one divinely inspired message for him:

“Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’”

Add all of this up: count my imagination as offically buggered.
