You can use the word tank to refer to several things, but one meaning is especially relevant to Trump and his supporters… by Hal Brown, MSW

There are a few kinds of tanks, what you see above and of course the gas tank in your car. There are even two kinds of tanks related to the word stock.

From what I can tell the term tank or tanking when referred to stock, or any other drastic failure, is derived from the phrase “in the tank” which aside from someone being in an armored tank, where you won’t last long unless you’re a fish.

“In the tank” is a slang term referring to prolonged poor performance. In the tank can be used in the context of a specific security as in a company’s stock, a particular sector or industry, and even a national economy or the market as a whole. A stock is considered to be in the tank when it has performed very poorly for a period of time.

My favorite use of ther word tank now is when it is used as it is in this article:

Here are some articles about Trump Social stock:

Consider:

and…

Here’s another article: ‘One swindle after another’: Columnist mocks MAGA fans for buying up Truth Social stock.”

… and another:

I don’t want the children of the true believers in Trump who invested a big chunk of their savings in Truth Social because they thought would make them rich… well, to be brutally honest if they are part of the indoctinated Trump Youth Corps maybe I do want them to be punished.

However I won’t be crying sad tears over any Trumpers when they lose, as Trump would say, bigly.

Call me heartless, call me cruel, but am happy that lots of Trumpers may be crying because they trusted their hero so much that they spent their hard earned money to buy what he led them to bleieve was a sure-thing stock. I may shed some tears over the people who lost more money than they could afford, or were hoping that their Truth Social investment would buy them a new car or trip to Disney with the kids, but they will be happy tears.

  1. I will not lose any sleep over any losses he incurs.

    Nor should anyone.

I also do not feel sorry for anyone who put money into a vanity toy for an old, sorry excuse of a person who needs to self-aggrandize on a personal platform.

Seriously, why shed even one tear for people who play “rich man poker” (investing in the market without doing research). Why do that?

We’re vanity polarized and overly personalized. It really isn’t about us. Or about the mythical “them.” Whoever “them” is.

If they were actually counting on the Orange Fool and Traitor to provide them with anything meaningful, they’ve gotten another miserable disappointment.

Disappointing people – it is what he does.

Once the Justice system gets out of its own way and begins taking prosecution of this criminal seriously, and once his “fortune” becomes his downfall and undoing, we all need to grant ourselves permission to take many, many anxiety-reducing breaths and deactivate our brains.

We need a break, so that we can prepare for the next thing that life will send our way to challenge us…
