A Trump Christmas Card, By Hal Brown, MSW

Revised version:

Above (click to enlarge): With my disinfectant products specially made for protection against contamination by Trump by Proctor and Gamble and The Clorox Company at the ready I am going to once again dip my analytic toe into the dangerous toxic mind of Donald Trump.

Watch the Morning Joe segment here.

Al Sharpton, on Morning Joe, said Trump’s Christmas messges showed that Trump is really more concerned than he wants to appear. I agree.

Morning Joe highlighted the following in one Trump post (clicking below will enlarge images):

Above is the portion I would highlight. What this suggests to me is how closely Trump is following the cases against him, in this instance the one case he’d be able to make go away if he’s president again. His reference to Jack Smith being Biden’s “only hope” and his acknowledgment that he is aware of Smith’s hiring outside attorney’s demonstrates how aware he is of his legal predicament.

Trump is known to watch a lot of morning TV. He might have seen Karl Rove on Fox News, or the discussion about what Rove said on Morning Joe about the new tape. See “Trump recorded pressuring Michigan canvassers not to certify 2020 vote” (CNN).

Here’s the Fox News article about this.

Excerpt:

A Trump campaign spokesperson told Fox News Digital, “All of President Trump’s actions were taken in furtherance of his duty as President of the United States to faithfully take care of the laws and ensure election integrity,” repeating the former president’s false claims that the election was “stolen.”

“President Trump and the American people have the Constitutional right to free and fair elections,”  Crooked Joe Biden and the Democrats are spinning their wheels in the face of devastating polling numbers and desperately leaking misleading information to interfere in the election.”

You can judge for yourself whether the above explanation represents an argument that will stand up in court.

Trump keeps coming back to replay his old hits. He is driven to try to destroy his enemies with insults. Even on Christmas he couldn’t bring himself to wish the entire country, his friends and foes, a Merry Christmas.

As a clincian who has spent an unfortunately large amount of my time trying to analyze Trump I’d add to the above that the Trump Christmas messages represent a lack of impulse control and narsiccistic rage. They show (once again) how dangerous he’ll be if he becomes president again.

Addendum:

This is how Trump’s Christmas post was discussed on Morning Joe today:

‘Even for him, a new low’: Morning Joe panel rips apart Trump’s Christmas freakout

Excerpt:

“It’s two things,” Sharpton began. “I think it shows that these indictments and the civil case, despite his pretense otherwise, has gotten to him, because he’s reacting and responding in a way of no one projecting self-confidence or like this is nothing.”

“I also think it shows an inner kind of anger and displacement that he has, because who spends the holiday with this kind of venom, particularly when he is a guy that claims to be this self-confident, self-made guy with this kind of darkness, unless you are just that kind of dark person,” he added.

“We’ve certainly gotten used to Trump’s unorthodox holiday messages, ‘the haters,’ but this one hit a new low, even for him,”. : Lemire chipped in.

Here’s a sample:

  • Trump’s Truth Social posts filled with such hatred, venom, and hostility prove that Trump is a seriously mentally ill sociopath. He is dangerous! #TrumpIsNotWell
  • Dear Donald, thanks for your “Rot In Hell” xmas greeting, whatever happens in hell I am sure you will witness it… #rotinhell #TrumpIsNotWell
  • #TrumpStinks rotten. Who knows what Trump gave Putin. Our top secret intel, classified documents- what type of danger has he put us in? Putin uses #TrumpIsNotWell as his puppet because he gets everything he wants from him while the harm to our nation we may never know.
  • Yesterday Clown posted “May they rot in hell.” About anyone he hates. So now its trending that he is a deranged, whiny, bitch baby.
  • How could anyone let a deranged psychopath like this, anywhere near our Oval Office, ever again?
  • TFG was criticized for his Christmas posts, which he used to lash out at his enemies, including telling some that they should “rot in hell”Such a good Christian. Pobrecito 45, Internet roasts #TrumpIsNotWell for making Christmas ‘about himself’ again.
  • It’s desperation. Trump is scared out of his mind! Jack, Justice and Jail are in his future and there’s nothing he can do about it. He did it to himself!
  • It’s beginning to look a lot like ketchup …

  1. In the world of caregiving, this is a perplexing and completely miserable case to try to manage.
A patient like this is non-compliant, will secretly spit out the meds, has nothing but spite left at the end of days, has more than a little animus. What the hell do you talk about? Nothing. The clinician sits and listens to the anger and fear take turns presenting. It is boring. There’s no insight. There’s no learning. There’s no growth.
    This is a broken record.
There is no person inside of him. There is only an empty echo.
It is tempting to just give him an open bowl of cocaine, let him sniff it all in, let his myocardium dissect itself, and watch him go into cardiovascular collapse. But we don’t do that. We try to endure. And we find ways to vent about this really sucky thing called putting up with a massive diaper baby.
My dog is declining and dying with more dignity than this asshat demonstrates.
The mob would have fitted him with concrete shoes some time ago. We’re being very generous, aren’t we all?
    Peace.

      1. Death is part of life. We should not be shocked, but we always are. I think, that is a sign of a normative, healthy response to both life and death, to be momentarily stunned, and then to be able to receive the message.
Perhaps, that is part of why so many supporters fight back to keep the Doofus going… he is like their pet. He’s their shield that prevents them from having to admit they are wrong
Problem is – the leash is in the hands of that dude in Russia…
