Being Trump means never saying you’re sorry and Unified Reich reference proves it, by Hal Brown, MSW

Anyone reading this knows about the Unified Reich story. It has been all over the news (click here).

As you see above everyone from President Biden to Jimmy Kimmel as reacted to it.

Charles Coleman address this on MSNBC.

He showed the following:

He also referenced  Trump’s initial response to violent protests in Charlottesville, Va. when he said that “you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides.” It took 48 hours for him to walk it back and offer an explanation but he never said he was sorry.

Here’s my take and it is simple:

The campaign blamed it on a staffer and took it down but 1) did they ever say they were sorry and most importantly, 2) did Trump personally ever apologize? As far as I can tell the answer is not only “no” but he hasn’t directly addressed the matter. An explanation coming from a non-person called “the campaign” is NOT a personal apology frm Trump.

This applies to everything Trump says or posts that causes outrage or pushback. He may ignore it or explain that he didn’t mean it as it was taken, but the phrase’ “I’m sorry” isn’t in his usual vocabulary unless he is up against the wall. Here’s a rare example of words that would be an apology if he meant them. It was after tte SAccess Hollywood tape was made public. First he said:

“This was locker room banter, a private conversation that took place many years ago. Bill Clinton has said far worse to me on the golf course — not even close. I apologize if anyone was offended.”

That wasn’t a true apology. It was followed by this:

Trump, Oct. 8, 2016: I’ve never said I’m a perfect person, nor pretended to be someone that I’m not. I’ve said and done things I regret, and the words released today on this more than a decade-old video are one of them. Anyone who knows me, know these words don’t reflect who I am. I said it, I was wrong, and I apologize. … I’ve said some foolish things, but there is a big difference between the words and actions of other people. Bill Clinton has actually abused women and Hillary has bullied, attacked, shamed and intimidated his victims. We will discuss this more in the coming days. See you at the debate on Sunday.”

Of course if you take this in it’s entirety it is a tissue of lies. There more examples of his Access Hollywood apologies here. If you read about Trump’s rare (very rare apology for anything) about the things he said on the Access Hollywood take you can see why it was so important to hide the fact of his relationship with Stormy Daniels lest it come out prior to the election.

Here’s what I posted on X:

Reich is a German noun whose meaning is analogous to the English word “realm”. Hitler aspired to create the Third Reich.

Nazi leader Adolf Hitler imagined his dictatorial regime as the historical successor to two great German empires. By claiming for his government the mantle of the Third Reich, Hitler attempted to position himself within the larger context of German and European history. In his mind, Hitler’s “thousand-year Reich” would serve as the natural conclusion of a process that he traced back to the coronation of Charlemagne in 800. The concept of such a succession of “Reichs” had its origin just 10 years before Hitler’s rise to power, however, and those living in the retroactively named “First Reich” (the Holy Roman Empire) or “Second Reich” (the German Empire) would not have recognized the validity of such an appellation. (Britannica)

Today anyone who hears the word “reich” dosen’t think of Chalremagne or the Holy Roman Empire. They think of Hitler.

The word’s in the Trump post may be blurry but the are there directly beneath the smug smile of Donald Trump who has said he would “only” be a dictator on the first day if he’s elected president again.

I have little doubt that if Trump found Aladdan’s Lamp and the genie offered him three wishes they would be, in this order:

  • I want to live forever
  • I want the body I had when I was 20
  • I want to be dictator of the world
