It’s hard not to look at Trump’s bizarrely long tie. Chris Christie had an explanation. By Hal Brown, MSW

The Mystery of Trump’s Bizarrely Long Ties Has Finally Been Solved

Excerpt:

Donald Trump has had a confounding relationship with his ties, from the scotch-taped to the infamously, strangely lengthy. While the jury’s still out on why he’s yet to just buy a simple tie clip, we finally have an answer to the question that has plagued many: Why does Trump wear such giant ties?

In former New Jersey governor Chris Christie’s forthcoming memoir, Let Me Finish, he says that Trump apparently thinks the long garment has a slimming effect on one’s body. According to The Guardian, which obtained an early copy of the book, Christie writes that during the 2016 presidential election, Trump advised him to wear longer ties so that it would make him appear thinner.

Flash forward from 2019 to today and Trump’s ties are in the news again. These are the articles you see if you look up Trump’s red tie on Google News.

The supporters sporting these ties are being called member of Trump’s little red tie entourage. I can’t tell from the widely published photos how long the ties those besides Vivek Ramaswamy are wearing. I think his would pass fashion muster.

I am sure that MAGA hats wouldn’t be allowed in the courtroom so red ties are the next best thing. If the city allowed it I wouldn’t be surprised to see street vendors hawking red ties outside the courthouse.

Today some of the men in the little red tie entourage have decided to wear more stylish red ties instead of the Turmpian solid bright red tie.

Why Lauren Boebert wore a lavender dress is impossible to determine althought the color “is associated with the youthful, untamed growth found in nature during springtime. Like its purple cousin, lavender is associated to a degree with patriarchal leadership, though this is balanced out by the color’s mixed connections to both femininity and decadence. Because of this, lavender is in the unique position of invoking masculine, feminine, dynamic, and restful states of mind depending on the current psychological perspective and temper of the viewer.” (Reference) It’s made the news that while she has gone to Trump’s trial to show support for him she didn’t go to her son’s own trial.

Here’s another article.

How long Trump’s ties descend below the belt varies:

This article was published in Psychology Today in 2017:

Male Body Image and Neckties: What’s the Relationship?

Trump is referenced in the first paragraph:

The subject of neckties receives considerable attention by men as they make their daily clothing choices. For those whose “uniform” consists of a suit and tie, that choice of a tie may be their only way to express their individuality. In the case of President Donald J. Trump, the daily decision will invariably involve an extravagantly long neckties. We know perhaps how he accomplishes that super-long look, but no one seems to know why. From a psychodynamic point of view, there’s a clear link between the tie (and its length) and the male anatomy. As a phallic symbol, an abnormally longer tie would therefore signify a man’s desire to present an unusually macho image of himself. The bowtie, in contrast, would signify the wearer’s desire to appear youthful. Bow ties are, after all, what little boys often wear the first time they’re put into dressier outfits.

Although I am not a fashion consultant I think that between red being an eye catching bright primary color and that Trump rarely if ever buttons his jacket brings more attention to his substantial girth. Yesterday when he entered the courthouse his jacket was buttoned. Today the news reports he’s also wearing a long red tie.

Not all of my blogs (read them here) are as frivolous as this. In my defense Trump’s little red tie entourage brought this and mockery about it to coverage over the media and on social media.
