Above is what you see if your seach Google News for Hannibel Lecter Trump.
This RawStory artcle, ‘The guy is just not there’: Morning Joe hosts baffled by ‘bizarre’ Trump rally rant, focuses on Trumps Hannibal Lecter attempt at a joke during his Saturday New Jersey rally.
Excerpt:
The co-hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” kicked off Monday morning by expressing bafflement and amusement that Donald Trump went on an extended riff at his Saturday New Jersey rally praising a fictional cannibal.
During an attack on migrants before a crowd of his adoring MAGA fans, the former president segued into honoring Hannibal Lector, the central villain in a series of books by author Thomas Harris, including the bestseller “The Silence of the Lambs.”
“Has anyone ever seen ‘The Silence of the Lambs’? The late, great Hannibal Lecter. He’s a wonderful man,” Trump rambled before adding, ““He often times would have a friend for dinner. Remember the last scene? ‘Excuse me, I’m about to have a friend for dinner,’ as this poor doctor walked by. ‘I’m about to have a friend for dinner.’ But Hannibal Lecter. Congratulations. The late, great Hannibal Lecter.”

Social media is buzzing about a Donald Trump line from his weekend rally in New Jersey, but some think the odd statement was actually a “veiled threat” to the witnesses in his criminal hush money cover-up case in New York.
This is reference is an example of the sadism in Trump’s sense of humor. He thinks this joke is funny enough to tell at a rally knowing it will be replayed in the media. Of course the Hannibal Lecter character is a serial killer who ate his victims. His most well known line is his admission that he once ate a census taker’s liver “with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.” (I don’t know what this did for sales of the nutrient rich bean (health reference).
Below: The free Lecter who escaped from prison presumably walking in a search for his next meal:

Trump anticipates big time, one might say blood thirsty, vengeance against those who have prosecuted and persecuted him if he becomes president again.
The following is from The Silence of the Lambs Ending, Explained.
In the final scene of the film, we find Lecter calling Clarice from the Bahamas. He assures her that he won’t be coming after her and ends the phone call with his plans of “having a friend for dinner.” Next we know, Dr Chilton is seen in the crowd and Lecter follows him.
This Reddit thread about Trump’s “joke” has some good comments. Here are some of them.
Trump is seriously mentally ill. He exhibits on a daily basis delusions of grandeur, severe narcistic personality disorder, persecution complex, and chronic/compulsive lying. Among other mental diseases. He belongs in a psychiatric hospital and not in the White House.
Maybe that’s why he’s obsessed with the Hannibal Lector character (if he even understands it’s a character). This “Christian Savior” can’t quote a single bible verse, but has memorized lines from a fictional murderous cannibal (that he seems to think is real) that he just randomly throws into a presidential election speech.
He didn’t even get the scene right from the film.
Nobody makes a word salad quite like Donald, and his supporters just eat it right up. Just like the late, great Hannibal Lecter, lol. What the actual fuck.
What in the actual fuck could he possibly be talking about with this quote? Pure insanity

Ah. I watched the link below. It provided SOME context. In his word stream of consciousness, he seems to be implying there are huge numbers of Hannibal Lector types being shipped to America. That’s why other countries have lower prison populations.
He also brought Asians into his rant. Is that group a new target of his racism?
Vote blue, people. If he wins, we are all going to be fucked.
Anthony Hopkins needs to address this. He is a knight after all. There’s gotta be some official olde’English law on the books somewhere that says Trump has to accept a duel if a knight challenges his honor.
Man what I’d give to see Anthony Hopkins joust Trump.
Doesn’t need to be a competition even. Frankly I don’t care if Trump knows it’s happening. I just wanna see a bizarre end to a wretched stain on humanity. When he strokes out in the tanning bed it’ll be so boring – only interesting part will be how long the GOP Weekend At Bernie‘s his corpse. I’m sure whoever finds the bloated sack will probably consider hiding the body to ensure a conspiracy / mystery remains.
Now, if mid-press conference Sir Anthony Hopkins – in full medieval plate armor – speared an unsuspecting Trump on lance from a horse at full gallup – well, the next 3 to 20 seconds of my life would be perfect.

is this an actual quote? i can’t tell anymore
Put aside for a minute that he’s calling Hannibal Lector a “wonderful man”. I love that he congratulates him, lol. In it’s context, it’s the single greatest one word sentence he’s ever uttered, “Congratulations.” It’s so fucking random and senseless and idiotic and sublime all at the same time.
At a political rally.
To be president of the United States.
Like, congratulations Hannibal, you’re truly an inspiration to us all. Yes, congratulations Hannibal, you really owned those libs. Congratulations Hannibal, I couldn’t have done a better job myself. I mean, wha?
Tsk tsk
Is he suggesting that we should eat immigrants?
I think(?) he was suggesting immigrants are coming here to eat us so they should be locked in cages, but he could jave just as likely been suggesting what you said. You don’t want to go inside this guys mind, I don’t think you’d make it out. It must he like a bad acid trip in there, my gosh.
Well, he did say they are “eating our lunch” they finished, and are still hungry, maybe?
He also gave a shout out to OJ Simpson who he said was in the crowd. Twice.
I seriously can’t tell if this is a joke or not. Did he really say that? like his demented mind heard talk of OJ dying but had to make it about himself so he said he was in the crowd?
Just remember that this ISN’T the presidential candidate that announced he had a brain parasite and mercury poisoning.
Wat
And don’t forget “the great Alphonse Capone”.
You can tell a great deal about an individual’s personality by who they admire and also by the jokes they think are funny. He calls Lecter the “late great Hannibel Lecter” and you know he’s not refrring to the “great” performance by Anthony Hopkins which won him the 1992 Best Actor Academy Award. He’s referring to the psychopathic, sadistic, and narcissitic character he played. This is someone who had the guts to act on the impulses of his malignant narcissism. Lucky for those who crossed Donald Trump’s path his impulses were limited to sexually assualting women and not murdering anyone despite his fantasy of shooting someone on Fifth Avenue and getting away with it.
