Another Covid recovery day with nothing even slightly original to write about unless you count the giant hematoma on my side, by Hal Brown, MSW – some additions… added as I rallied…

I don’t want to overly dramatize my bout with Covid. I know peoople who have had it har worse including a friend who ended up in intensive care for tw

o weeks. However this is my story and it’s the only person Covid story I have and fo want of anything else to write about so far today, here it is.

I likely got Covid a week before I decided to test since my symtom, just a dry cough and sniffles, were mild. Then like so many I took the test and got the dreaded double red lines (above).

For a week my cough, when became productive, got worse and worse.

Recovery from Covid has been slow and I was looking forward to getting my mind back on track and coming up with political or topical subjects to write about. A week ago my cough was so bad I was awake all night and my doctor sent me to the emergency room to make sure I didn’t have pneumonia. I didn’t.

The coughing had been so bad the muscles on one side went into a stabbing spasm so for a week in an attempt to ease the pain in my side I was using a heating pad and electric masager.

This could have been the wrong thing to do.

Last night I noticed I had the giant hematoma shown above lower left. My nurse partner says I must have given this to myself by the heat and/or the electric massage or both.

I’ll spare you a large photo of this because for one thing it is gross and for another if it isnt cropped it shows how fat I’ve gotten in the, uh, last 20 years.

You can also see a selfie I took after I shaved since whiskers fill up with (gross-out alert) best left undescribed crap which flows out of your stuffed simuses from treatment with one of those HydroPulse nasal rinse gizmos. $90 and well worth it in my opinion.

Here are some odds and ends, not earth shattering – I thought of this last light listening to NPR as I was trying to fall asleep. File this under somthing else to love about gifts from France besides Marcel Marceau and Bridget Bardot to name just two.

Their Senate put legal aprotion into their constitution. Their senate adopted the bill on a vote of 267 in favor, and 50 against.

I wasn’t going to write about Trump but since I am writing about France, this photo never gets old:

What else…. my Covid brain

is pretty much stuck – hopefully it will bounce back but with something to write about besides Trump. I think Trump triggers some spike proteins in my infection. Was I watching him on MSNBC when I got my hematoma?

This whale story was trending on HuffPost.

Two male humpback whales caught doing the deed with each other and furthermore seem to be exhibtionists… observers witnessed two male humpback whales approach a boat and circle around it before engaging in sexual activity underneath. Gruardian article below:

DeSantis will probably say that is is why they call them hump-back whales. He may try to ban them from Florida coastal waters. He probably believes Beluga and other whales are all straight The most macho whales of are probobaly the Sperm whale and the Orca or killer whale.

  2. Get better Hal.
Ice would have been a better tool to apply.
As a person on blood thinning agents, I will tell you that heat is not my friend, and having written about COVID when I had it, your course and mine parallel. It is an uncomfortable-at-best, lethal-at-worst viral infection to acquire.
This is not a prescription nor medical advice, but, I have found that Mucinex or its generic equivalents, especially the long-acting form, help greatly with the chronic expectoration. It gets the mucus plugs out sooner, in less dramatic fashion, with far less tortuous coughing episodes. Sensitivity to this drug and interactions with cardiac medications is rare.

Peace. Stay mobile, do not stop walking around, even if it is only indoors. All motion, all movement assists in your recovery.
