Unpacking Putin on presidents: is it more about personality than policies? by Hal Brown, MSW

In case you haven’t heard, Tucker Carlson went to Russia and interviewed their president, Vladimir Putin. Now one thing Putin said is making the news: he said he’d rather deal with Biden than Trump as President of the United States because, among other things, Biden is stable.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that he would prefer Joe Biden to win the 2024 election compared to the front-runner of the Republican primary, Donald Trump, calling the Democratic president a “more predictable” leader.

“Biden, he’s more experienced, more predictable, he’s a politician of the old formation,” Putin said in an interview with Russian state media, according to The Associated Press. “But we will work with any U.S. leader whom the American people trust.”

But Trump seemed to think Putin actually praised him.

“President Putin of Russia has just given me a great compliment, actually,” Trump said during a rally in Charleston, South Carolina.

He continued: “A lot of people said, ‘Oh, gee, that’s too bad.’ No, no, that’s a good thing. And, of course, he would say that.”

Nobody save Putin himself, and perhaps his confidents, know who he really wants to win our election. It remains to be seen whether Russia tried to influence the results in Trump’s favor like they did in 2016.

Perhaps he said this so Trump’s critics don’t gain traction by calling him Putin’s puppet or a patsy for Putin.

In some ways it is easier to get into Trump’s mind than Putin’s because the former is a high functioning simpleton who has trouble figuring out the next move in tic-tac-toe and the later plays chess.

I can see why Putin would want Trump to win. He knows that this would throw the United States into chaos.

However he also knows that a President Trump won’t necessiarily make the United States a ally of Russia.

He knows that very possibly Trump would have a Democrat controlled House and Senate and a Supreme Court majority that had finally turned against him.

Trump could be impeached and removed from office by the Senate. If his vice president continued the same course that he did this could also happen to them. This would make the Speaker of the House president and they could be a Democrat with a Democrat controlled Congress.

Putin speaks English. I am sure he has a way to watch American television even if it’s only by having someone in a Russian embassy in the United States live FaceTime him vidoes of shows. It wouldn’t surprise me if right now he is watching MSNBC which is covering two trials involving Trump, one involving his affair with a porn star. He may be asking himself whether this is the person he wants to be dealing with if he becomes president.

I wonder what Putin would think if he saw this video.
