Is it just for publicity that Trump wants to attend the E. Jean Carroll trial? I think there’s another reason. By Hal Brown, MSW

Trying to enter the malignantly narcissistic sadistic psychopathic mind of Donald Trump without a hazmat suit is perilous. However, dear readers, I will attempt to do this and speculate on the psychological reason Trump is planning to attend the E. Jean Carroll trial when he isn’t being compelled to do so.

A jury already found him liable of sexually abusing Carroll and then sliming her reputation after she went public with her story. On “Morning Joe Mika” today Brzezinski said: “That woman, he is going back today, all he had to do was simply not talk about her, but he chose to defame her again, after he was found liable of defamation. He is in court today because of his mouth.”

The following is from Morning Joe trashes ‘twisted’ GOP voters for backing ‘fraud’ Trump in RawStory. (I would have substituted the word’”rapist” for “fraud” in the title.)

However, exit polls in Iowa showed Republican voters didn’t care about the criminal allegations against the ex-president, and in fact many of them said the charges only made them like him more.

“These Republicans say they don’t care he’s in court,” Scarborough said. “In fact, the fact he is in court today facing a woman that a judge says he raped, Donald Trump is there because that’s the best political fuel he can get. That’s how twisted things are in the personality cult, and he is going into these courtrooms because of the grand spectacle, because it helps him.”

“Because 65 percent of Republicans in Iowa say if he is convicted, they still want him to be president,” he added. “There’s 20 percent in another poll in the Des Moines Register/NBC poll, 20 percent said that the fact that he’s indicted or that he is found guilty of — that a judge says he raped a woman, that makes them more likely to vote for him.”

RawStory

I have no doubt that Trump, having won handily in Iowa, doesn’t see the need to hold a rally or townhall. He sees this trial as both a campaign event and a fund raising opportunity. I agree that he thinks that any publicity he gets for this and any other case bolsters the support among his cult members. He has mastered the art of playing the victim. The simple fact is that in the instance of E. Jean Carroll, a real person, was the victim doesn’t matter to his cult and Trump knows this. One thing that makes this trial different than any other he will face is that there is a real person as the victim of his crime.

Trump knows that there are those among his cult who think Carroll made this up, those who assume it’s true and don’t care, some who admire him for doing it or , like the woman in my illustration (read article here), wish he did it to them.

Given all this, I think there is another reason Trump wants to be in this particular courtroom. This has do to with Trump’s psychopathology.

Trump wants to sit in a room with E. Jean Carroll and relive the incident. He wants to see if he can get her to react when he glares or smirks at her. He wants to try to make her as uncomfortable as possible.

Why would he want to do this?

It is because he’s a sadist. He a takes pleasure in inflicting pain, punishment, or humiliation on others, especially those who dare to challenge his feelings of omnipotence. Whether he experiences the thrill he gets out of doing this is at least partiially sexual is impossible to determine. If he does it would suggest he has aspects of the sexual sadism psychiatric disorder. The only way to really confirm this would be to hook him up to a penile plethysmograph (illustration top of page) while he’s insulting people. If this could be proved I doubt too many of his cult members would care.
