Trump displayed his delusional narcissism posting God Made Trump video and opening his Iowa rally with it. By Hal Brown, MSW

Update – Jan. 14, 2024

I am pleased that the use of Trump of a video titled “God Made Trump” is still getting media attention. I just found an article posted on Salon about this:

“The ‘Chosen One’: Why experts say a new campaign ad from Trump signals impending violence” features interviews by Chauncey DeVega with several experts including psychoanalyst Lance Dodes.

Above: A second column about this by DeVega.

Update – Jan. 12, 2024: There was an article about this in The NY Times summarized in RawStory here. Below I suggested that the Dilley Meme Team made anti-Trump satire videos. I couldn’t imagine them being pro-Trump because the videos were so outrageously over-the-top fawning over him. Now after reading the Daily Dot article I am not sure. Perhaps they are really pro-Trump. This is what they wrote about the tweet below:

A pinned post on his account, from Nov. 25, 2023, shows what appears to be a picture of Trump talking to Dilley in a giant stadium full of fans, with Dilley dutifully saying, “Yes, Mr. President. The Dilley Meme Team has seen the video and will be shit posting it everywhere.”

Perhaps they are pulling a fast one on the narcisstic president and suckering him into giving them publicity. If this is their intention they have succeeded.

If they are pro-Trump and like him they are taking advantage of the gullibility of his cult. If they believe their own videos they are certifiably delusional.

At first I thought some wacca-toon evangelical Trump supporters made the video “God Made Trump” but then it hit me that it had to be a parody so I looked it up and found Donald Trump Shares Paul Harvey Parody Video Saying: “God Made Trump” in Real Real Politics. From all that I can tell it was made by the anti-Trump Dilley Meme team pretending to be pro-Trump (here’s their website).

Here’s one article about it: Trump’s Latest Propoganda Video Is So Unhinged It’s Laughable.

Former President Trump posted this video, which sounds like an AI voiceover parody based on Paul Harvey’s “God made a farmer” monologue, on his Truth Social account on Friday morning.

“God said, I need somebody willing to get up before dawn, fix this country, work all day, fight the Marxists, eat supper, and then go to the Oval Office and stay up past midnight at a meeting of the heads of state. So God made Trump,” it says.

Real Clear Politics

Here’s a transcrption of the video:

NARRATOR: And on June 14th, 1946, God looked down on his planned Paradise, and said, I need a caretaker. So God gave us Trump.

God said, I need somebody willing to get up before dawn, fix this country, work all day, fight the Marxists, eat supper, then go to the Oval Office and stay up past midnight at a meeting of the heads of state. So God made Trump.

I need somebody with arms strong enough to wrestle the deep state, and yet gentle enough to deliver his own grandchild. Somebody to ruffle the feathers, tame the cantankerous World Economic Forum, come home hungry, have to wait until the First Lady is done with lunch with friends, then tell the ladies to be sure and come back real soon — and mean it. So God gave us Trump.

I need somebody who can shape an ax but wield a sword, who had the courage to step foot in North Korea. Who can make money from the tar of the sand, turned liquid to gold, who understands the difference between tariffs and inflation, will finish his 40 hour week by Tuesday noon, but then put in another 72 hours. So God made Trump.

God had to have somebody willing to go into the den of vipers. Call out the fake news for their tongues as sharp as serpents, the poison of vipers is on their lips. And yet. Stop. So God made Trump.

God said, I need somebody who will be strong and courageous, who will not be afraid or terrified of the wolves when they attack, a man who cares for the flock, a shepherd to mankind who will never leave nor forsake them. I need the most diligent worker to follow the path, and remain strong in faith, and know the belief of God and country. Somebody who is willing to drill, bring back manufacturing and American jobs, farm the lands, secure our borders, build our military. Fight the system all day and finish a hard week’s work by attending church on Sunday. And then his oldest son turns and says, “Let’s make America great again, dad, let’s build back a country to be the envy of the world again.” So God made Trump.

I added a notation about this as an addendum to yesterday’s blog but knowing how many readers won’t ever click on Trump’s Truth Social I took an iPhone video of it so anyone could watch here it on my own YouTube channel.

In order to appreciate how far Trump has descended into delusional narcissism you really have to watch the video.

Not only did he post the video on Truth Social but he opened his Iowa rally with it on Friday.

The Mary Sue, a website which should recognize snark, seems to have been fooled by the video:

Clocking in at over two minutes, the video is a lot to stomach for anyone who sees Trump for who he really is. I watched it so the rest of you don’t have to. (Though you can if you really want to put yourself through that.) The video plays clips of the former president interspersed with stock images to support the narrative the campaign wants viewers to believe. Stylistically, it plays up on nostalgia, with a male narrator who sounds like a preacher on a long-lost vinyl recording.

The Mary Sue

It begins with a view of Earth and says God wanted a champion, so “God made Trump.” They repeat the phrase multiple times during the video, so it seeps into your brain. It paints Trump as a man who God anointed to save us all. For a party that supposedly loves the democracy of America, they sure push ideals the Kings of England used to upload their power for generations. The Founding Fathers they love to quote founded America on the principle of separation of church and state. So how does God’s supposed champion fit into all of that?

The Mary Sue

What does Trump using this video say about him? Since he doesn’t believe in God, it’s hard to say he thinks a God sent him to earth to rule over the country, but I think that he believes that if there was a God of course he’d be the chosen one. What it does say is that Trump thinks his religious supporters are incredibly gullible.

If you don’t mind looking at X you can watch the video here.

Here’s another: ‘Cognitive decline’: Trump brutally mocked for baffling comment about how magnets work

I guess Trump never saw a movie about how Navy Seals use magnetic underwater limpet mines.

Donald Trump on Friday made a confusing comment about magnets, prompting mockery around the internet.

The former president said at a rally that he was largely ignorant about magnets, raising the issue in connection with so-called “magnetic elevators.”

“They had an almost billion-dollar cost over on the magnetic elevators,” Trump said at the Iowa hearing on . “Think of it. Magnets. Now, all I know about magnets is this: give me a glass of water, let me drop it on the magnets. That’s the end of the magnets.”
