There seems to be a good chance that President Biden will be impeached. Who knows, maybe if the House GOP rushes though their current attempt at impeachment and it goes to the Senate where he won’t be convicted and the Senate Democrats speedily vote not to convict him they’ll have time to reload and get a second shot at the prize.

If they do, Trump will glory in being able to say that Biden was impeached twice only his “illegitimate presidency” was saved by the (insert insults) Senate Democrats. He’ll be screech-preaching to his choir cult so this won’t get him one more voter but it doesn’t matter. It’s all about his psychopathological needs.

Back to the proceeding itself. In order for Trump and his armored clown car army to get what they want they need, getting their Dear Leader re-elected, or as some of his cult have put it, enable Trump to be the 45, 46, and 47th president they need publicity. They need O.J. Simpson level viewership of whatever public hearings they have.They need to convince undecided voters that Biden is evil and Trump is their savior.

To do this they have to offer major TV networks enough drama so they preempt their usual programming. They need to have viewers on the edges of their seats waiting for Jim Jordan to bring out his version of the black gloves found at the murder scene of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

Thier cult already watches either Fox News or one of the lesser players like Newsmax. Their mind is made up. Even so, the wild card is Fox News. They have to sell advertising and unless enough people want to watch something live I doubt they will waste airtime.

The same goes for the viewers of MSNBC. No regular viewer will vote for Trump.

House Republicans have to get CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC to extensively cover the hearing/investigation/inquisition.

If there’s no there there, and there won’t be a there there, I doubt this will happen.

The Republicans aren’t off to a good start. When Mike Johnspon was asked by a reporter in a news conference what crimes Joe Biden would be investigated for he not only didn’t answer but threw in the word “Benghazi” for no apparent reason.

“Huh?” I thought and looked up his name with Benghazi and I found this CNN article from August 2021:

‘This makes Benghazi look like a much smaller issue’: House Republicans vow to probe Biden’s Afghanistan exit if they win in 2022.

Obviously Johnson thinks Benghazi was a big deal and saying the word will have an impact today.

This brings me to what I think the Deomcrats should do to make sure the - whatever you want to call it – doesn’t turn into must-see TV.

My suggestion is that House Democrats boycott the “thing” and let the Republicans replay their tired act. The more boring it is the better is will be for Democrats. They will have to forgo gotcha moments when a Democrat nails Jim Jorndan or James Coner or who ends up with a choice spot on the committee.

If I tree blows up in a forest and only close friends of the tree hear it does it really matter?
