Introduction: I am adding this a half a day after I posted this blog because it bears some explaining. First, there’s nothing original here. Second, it does relate to how Elon Musk has turned X into a platform for hate speech and lies. You won’t see such articles on HuffPost but sometimes they sneak into the comments section. Comments are moderated and removed if they violate their policy (here) . This happened when someone posted a reply to a comment I posted and what ended up happening was a string of replies condemining what they had to say. Websites like RawStory which I read daily and often make comments to their articles on have a feature in their comments section where readers can flag comments as inappropriate (below). It must work because I never see such comments or replies to comments there.

My impression is that while HuffPost allows differing views to be expressed in the comments section the comment reply they deletd was because it violated the following:
HuffPost promotes a receptive, transparent and civil atmosphere for comments and users. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to voice their opinion regardless of identity, politics, ideology, religion or agreement with other community members, the author of the post or staff members as long as those opinions are respectful and constructively add to the conversation. However, this community does not tolerate direct or indirect attacks, name-calling or insults, nor does it tolerate intentional attempts to derail, hijack, troll or bait others into an emotional response. We reserve the right to remove these types of comments where warranted. Individuals who consistently or intentionally post these types of comments may lose their ability to comment and, if we deem necessary, be permanently excluded from the community.
………………….
My comment to the above HuffPost article and the replies as of this writing (this morning) are below. The first reply was deleted for violating the HuffPost policy. It said that if one looked up Fascist in Websters they’d see it was Democrats who were fascists.
I am not sharing this to amplify what this far-right troll has to say. I am sharing it because I thought the replies were on-target. There’s probably some repetition in what I posted below but only because I have a limited time to edit this blog.
The reply thread grew because of this commenter:

29 minutes ago – My first comment to the HuffPost article:
The appalling problem is that there are many people, a few posting here, who are well aware of this but who want the to live in fascist county Trump plans where they are the elite with him as the leader.
- Hal Brown 1 minute ago. I am glad to see that the comment to which I and others reponded to was taken down by HuffPost for violating their policy. It was clearly posted by a pro-Trump troll.

- This comment (the first by Glen Swett) violated our policy (here).
- Hal Brown – Websters: Fascism is a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic, and: social regimentation, and forcible… etc.
- David Dennison (replies to Glen Swett) Actually you’re wrong Republicans have always been fascist Democrats have always been anti fascist trump made it more popular to be an anti-semite, white supremacist Remember “Jews will not replace us”Remember all white supremacist groups including the KKK endorsing trump in 2016 and 2020…
- Glenn Swett 2 minutes ago And yet you have not associated one definition of “Fascism” with the Republican party, hmm.ReplyShare

- John Oswald – You’re a political ignoramus.Hitler was an ultra rightwing, anti abortion conservative. Mussolini too.Fascism, by necessity, is always CONSERVATIVE. There is nothing liberal about it at all.
- The commenter whose comment was removed posted again:
- Glenn Swett
- Pick one definition of “Fascism” and see which party is most resembles.
- Such as: Fascism allows private ownership of businesses but determines what products will be produce.
- Which party wants more regulation on business? Democrats.
- that is a fascist agenda.
- We will see if this post is also deleted.
Glenn Swett
And yet you have not associated one definition of “Fascism” with the Republican party, hmm.
- David Dennison – Replying to Glenn Swett Don’t care what some Chinese National troll thinks Zhang ReplyShare
- Glenn Swett – Replying to David Dennison Your ignorance is duly noted.
Update:
Not much time to finish this. I have to leave in a few minutes to watch my grandaughter’s team compete in a regional championship soccer game. This is the most recent of what seems to be a comment thread that is gaining traction because of Glenn Swett:

David Dennison —
Actually you’re wrong
Republicans have always been fascist
Democrats have always been anti fascist
trump made it more popular to be an anti-semite, white supremacist
Remember “Jews will not replace us”
Remember all white supremacist groups including the KKK endorsing trump in 2016 and 2020
So no matter how you try to spin it…you’re still wrong
- Glenn Swett – And yet you have not associated one definition of “Fascism” with the Republican party, hmm.

- The National SOCIALISTS had national Healthcare, were pro abortion, believed in evolution and were obsessed with “race”, believed in forced medical procedures, adorded animals (Hitler was a vegetarian), were opposed to free speech, worshipped technology and one of the first groups they took control of was the professional guilds so that anyone who disagreed with them couldn’t get or would lose their job.
It’s quite possible that there is a real Glenn Swett. A web search finds seven of them. When I make a comment I am not anonymous. Anyone can do a web search of me with one or two key words like Trump or Portland and find out who I am and a lot about me.
