A Mixed Blessing: Marjorie Taylor Greene could lose to an even more extreme far right candidate with better pro-Trump creds. By Hal Brown

If Harrison Floyd decides to run against Marjorie Taylor Greene in the Georgia congressional district where Democrats generally get less than 30% of the vote he will have one thing going for him that Greene can’t brag about. It’s also something that Donald Trump has considered a badge of honor and grifted a great deal of money out of having.

Like Trump, he’ll have a mugshot. Furthermore he can use it without the need to photoshop it next to Trump’s. He’s here on the right.

Floyd has been indicted on charges related to attempting to compel witnesses to issue false statements in Trump’s RICO case out of Fulton County, Georgia. Floyd traveled to Georgia in an attempt to get an election worker to make statements proving Trump’s election denial claims.

Floyd has also been charged with assaulting a federal agent attempting to serve him with a federal grand jury subpoena at his Rockville, Maryland apartment. (From “Indicated Trump Co-Conspirator Mulling Primary Challenge Against Marjorie Taylor Greene”) Marjorie Taylor Greene may pose with assault rifles, doing pull-ups, and lifting weights, but she can’ brag about assaulting federal officers.

Floyd is selling mugshot merch although online the items seem to be a photoshops.

On Instagram (click sound to hear) he laments his not being able to afford the $40,000 he says he need to pay for lawyers.

Oddly, and perhaps to her regret, Marjorie Taylor Greene previously encouraged him to run for the U.S. House in Georgia but obviously didn’t foresee him going after her own seat. He seems intent on running but so far hasn’t announced which district he wants to represent. Of the three he’s considered two are competative with Democrats and the only one which is a sure thing for a Republican is Greene’s district. As the above article notes:

It may be difficult for Floyd to win Georgia’s 2nd and 7th district which favor Democrats, especially with the Trump RICO case and FBI assault cases looming over him. However, those issues could place him to the right of Greene and make him a big primary headache for the congresswoman.

While fellow gun-toting looney-tuner and catfight rival Lauren Boebert is in trouble in her district and considered “wounded” with reports that former key allies have switched their endorsements to businessman Jeff Hurd until now Greene who doesn’t need cartoon images of herself to look like someone you wouldn’t want to pick a barfight with seemed invulnerable. See Boebert article.

Greene has a lot going for her in that she’s a nationally known figure. In her last election she got 65.9% of the vote out of a total of 258,351 against her Democrat opponent Marcus Flowers. In order to remain in Congress she first has to win the primary. One thing she has going for her is that her district is mostly rural and 67% White and only 13% Black. Below you can see how she slaughtered those who ran against her in 2022. (Click image below to enlarge.)

With serious competition this is not a sure thing. She’s not running against a nobody,. Harrison Floyd has become a somebody. Not only that, he’s a somebody that she once encouraged to run for Congress. This may turn out to be something she lives to regret.

Since we are destined to have a far-right Representative for the 14th Georgia district I’d prefer to have Marjorie Taylor Greene back home pumping iron and trying to be relevant and in the spotlight, possibly on Fox News, but at least she’d have been humiliated by losing the election.

Of course there’s always the horrific chance Trump will pick her to run as his VP and he’ll end up winning, dying, and we’ll have a weight room in the West Wing.
