This is really an easily answered question. They are all equally egregious displays which would justify (I use the term “justify” deliberately) some kind of official sanction. Unfortunately, Supreme Court juctices are above the law. They are the final arbitors of the law. They can only be removed by impeachment.
If Justice Alito flew any of these flags in front of his house they would be a public acknowledgment of bias in favor Donald Trump in any case that he had to adjudicate which had to do with the former president.
There’s a case to be made that flying the upside down American flag beats out the wrongness of flying the other flags because it is, needless to point out, the American flag. It represents the country whose Constitution he swore to uphold as a member of the highest court in the land.
I say that a close second in the race to the bottom would be the Confederate flag because those states which composed the Confederacy seceded from the country and waged war against it, an act of treason. It is hard to imagine that the least bad flag to fly would be the Trump flag since this “merely” shows support for a presdient who lost an election and tried to subvert the Constitution to remain in office.
Most readers know that the history of flying an upside down American flag dates back to when it was used as a sign of distress on Navy ships to how using it this way became a way to protest.
